GRAFTON JACARANDA FESTIVAL TO KICK OFF WITH AN UNFORGETTABLE FREE CONCERT BY TROY CASSAR-DALEY AND DON WALKER


Grafton Jacaranda Festival is thrilled to announce that the opening evening of this year's festival, Friday 27 October, will feature a sensational free concert by acclaimed musicians Troy Cassar-Daley and Don Walker, along with their talented bands. The concert will take place at 7.30pm as part of the highly anticipated "River Dreaming - A Day of Culture" event, held in Market Square Grafton.


Troy Cassar-Daley, a multi-award-winning country music artist, has captured the hearts of music lovers across the nation. With a career spanning over three decades, his soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and exceptional guitar skills have earned him widespread acclaim. Troy's songs are a reflection of his rich cultural heritage and his deep connection to the land, making him a true icon of Australian country music.


Don Walker, renowned for his contributions to Australian rock music, is a masterful songwriter and musician. As a founding member of the legendary band Cold Chisel, Don's distinctive style and poetic storytelling have left an indelible mark on the Australian music scene. His songs, such as "Khe Sanh" and "Flame Trees," have become anthems that resonate with audiences of all generations.


Opening the event will be the incredibly talented Jem Cassar-Daley, an emerging artist whose enchanting vocals and soulful performances have garnered attention and admiration. Jem's presence will add an extra layer of magic to the evening, creating a truly unforgettable experience for all attendees. Jem is elated to be supporting Don and her father, Troy.


"River Dreaming - A Day of Culture" is set to be an extraordinary celebration of the rich heritage and cultural diversity of the Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr, and Yaegl nations, the First Nations people of the Clarence Valley. This event aims to pay homage to their traditions, history, and contributions to the community.


We are honoured that this event is partially funded by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) and the Yulgilbar Foundation. Their generous support has made it possible for us to bring this exceptional concert to the community and visitors.


Grafton Jacaranda Festival is an annual highlight on the Australian cultural calendar, attracting visitors from near and far. This year's festival promises to be even more memorable with the addition of the incredible talent of Troy Cassar-Daley, Don Walker and Jem Cassar-Daley.


We invite everyone to come and experience the magic of "River Dreaming - A Day of Culture" on Friday 27 October, starting from 10am. The festivities will continue throughout the day, culminating in the not-to-be-missed concert by Troy Cassar-Daley, Don Walker and their bands at 7.30pm.


Please ensure to bring your picnic blankets and chairs as no seating will be provided.
